2021-22 CBYX High School Application Now Open!

Scholarship Program for High School Students to Study Abroad in Germany.

Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Offers an Academic Year Abroad in Germany.

Washington, D.C. – Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) has launched its national 2021-22 academic year for high school students and recent graduates to study abroad in Germany. 250 high school scholarships are now available from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to fund students for an academic year of study and cultural immersion. Scholarship recipients will gain a new perspective on global current affairs and German social, economic, and political life, all while learning the German language through day-to-day life in the culture, attending a local high school and living with a host family. Participants serve as “youth ambassadors” from the United States while participating in educational, cultural, and political events, including receptions and meetings with government officials.

Created in 1983 during the Reagan Administration, CBYX strengthens U.S.-German relations by forging lasting ties of deeper understanding. Over the past 37 years, the program has reinforced transatlantic ties between Americans and Germans who engage in the program both as participants and hosts. Representative Jim Himes of Connecticut finds exchanges like CBYX “are of particular importance in today’s global economy. These programs provide an unequaled understanding of world cultures – one that can translate into the success of American business, growth of the U.S. economy, and increased global and national security.”

CBYX is administered by a partnership of non-profit exchange organizations: AFS-USA, ASSE, CIEE, and YFU USA.
